Testimonials

I was diagnosed as a type 2 five years ago. I suspect I HAD diabetes years before but the only time I recall it mentioned to me was in the context of my being borderline. We all now know there is no such thing; you are diabetic or you are not. As it is my nature to research any new subject I know little about--especially when it has to do with my or my family members' health--I began reading everything I could get my hands on. I prowled the book stores and libraries. Once I found Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution I felt so relieved and knew his book was the answer to the question--How do I stay away from being put on medications?

Thank you, Dr. Bernstein. I have lost 25 pounds and I do not take medication. My sugar readings are wonderful, and my doctor no longer thinks I should be on a pill to control my diabetes. I tell everyone about your book and your background. I keep my carb count around thirty and have heard the scare tactics about high protein. Of course, that concerns me but I have yet to find a study that proves high protein causes kidney problems. I have three years of low carb and fairly high protein history now but my lab tests show my kidneys to be normal.

It is great not to feel achy-- flu like--or to find myself falling asleep (more like passing out) after a meal heavy in carbs--it is great to know how to eat right, and feeling healthy because of it. I will admit I cheat from time to time and hope to stop even that. For me to have this much control and dedication to keeping off of meds is something I didn't think I would be able to do-but once I understood the damage this disease is capable of doing I knew I had to do whatever. This book made it possible. Dr. Bernstein, please make at least a few appearances and another book would be welcome--especially profiling different peoples' stories. It helps to read others experiences.
